The English FA has published its ‘Faith & Football’ calendar for the 2019-20 season.
Supported by Kick It Out and other football bodies and faith-based organisations, the calendar lists key religious dates and festivals across the UK’s main religions – Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam and the Sikh faith.
It also provides provides guidance to grassroots football around fixtures and religious observance, and suggest appropriate social media messages to encourage integration, inclusion and tolerance across the football community and wider society.
Kevin Coleman, Diversity & Inclusion Manager for the Football Association, told ConnectSport: “Every year The FA works with a cross section of faith groups and football stakeholders to produce a seasonal faith and football calendar.
“This calendar looks to raise awareness across the game of the major faith events and festivals that could have an impact on anyone playing or being involved.
“It also hopes to raise awareness of different faiths within football so that collectively football can make the game more inclusive and truly ‘For All’.”
