Derby County launch 'Recovery Rams' team

Derby County Community Trust have launched a 'Recovery Rams' six-a-side team for women with substance misuse or mental health issues.

Working in partnership with Premier League Girls, the team is part of the club's Active Choices programme which promotes healthy lifestyles and behavioural changes amongst females who have struggled with substance misuse.

Recovery Rams played their first fixture against Girls United, a team who travelled from Blackburn to mark the occasion.

Active Choices Team Leader Adam Rowley commented: "Today was an opportunity for the girls to showcase their recovery and also participate in a new sport which they have all really taken to.

“Thank you to Girls United for making the trip to Derby and for the support of Premier League Girls Football for enabling us to make today happen. We couldn’t be any happier with the response that we’ve had and we look forward to more fixtures in the future.”

The Recovery Rams play their next fixture against Burton Albion on Saturday, April 14 and thereafter will be holding fortnightly training sessions.
