Active Surrey is the County Sports Partnership for one of the most active counties in England, but our aim is to get even more people realising the benefits of physical activity. By working with partners we want to help more people:
- Start moving – starting or returning to exercise, whatever life stage they’re at;
- Move every day – by building activity into people’s lives; and
- Stay moving – supporting people to lead longer healthier lives, particularly as they age
We influence policy and help improve health / social outcomes for all ages, but with an eye on specific groups such as those from disadvantaged backgrounds and disabled residents. More directly, we inspire young people to be active via extensive services to schools and the annual Surrey Youth Games, which sees thousands of beginners receive free training in order to represent their borough in the region’s largest annual youth sport festival. At the other end of the spectrum we promote Otago strength and balance classes for older residents, while also organising the Surrey Sports Awards which celebrate volunteers and grassroot club members.
We support people in reaching their fitness goals which in turn improve health outcomes and boost quality of life, but we are always pleased to expand our network by linking with new partners / sponsors. If you’d like to know more, please get in touch.
