The community trust of Nottingham Forest Football Club has announced a new scheme to help fathers with their parenting skills.
The Trust has launched ‘Off The Bench’ in conjunction with Small Steps Big Changes (SSBC), a 10-year, city-wide programme aimed at improving the lives of 0-3 year-olds.
SSBC is a partnership between Nottingham City Council, health partners, voluntary sector organisations, families and communities.
Off The Bench will support and engage with new or expectant fathers.
According to nottinghamforestcommunitytrust.co.uk, the Trust aims to “help Dads step ‘Off The Bench’ and play an active role in their child’s development.”
It added: “Let us help you settle some nerves, interact with other Dads and pick up some tips, tricks and advice to support you in the early stages of parenting.
“Alternatively, it’s just a great opportunity to meet and socialise with other fathers in the area.”
Organisers say the activities are designed to give each child the best start in life. They focus on helping children i) learn to talk and communicate; ii) be confident, friendly and understand their emotions and behaviour; iii) enjoy eating well and keeping healthy.
