The Community Trust of Aberdeen Football Club (AFCCT) has partnered with the ‘Cash for Kids’ scheme to provide essential support to 36 young boys and girls who have been affected by poverty.
Cash for Kids was chosen as a key partner of the Scottish Government's Winter Fund, which was set up to support families during the winter months with essentials such as food, fuel, warm clothing and mobile phone top-ups. Grants were then allocated to help children affected by poverty who did not meet the requirements for programmes such as free school meals.
FUNDING
AFCCT recognised many of the children they work with are affected by poverty and do not have access to any additional support. Therefore the Trust reached out to one of its ‘partner schools’ which supports pupils facing disadvantage, and their families, to identify these children.
In total, AFCCT identified 36 children who were experiencing real hardship, and secured funding to support them. Their families were provided with a large food parcel as well as vouchers for a local supermarket to support during these challenging times.
IMPORTANT
Liz Bowie, the Chief Executive of AFCCT, said: “We have been delighted to support this wonderful initiative. Demonstrating our close partnership with Northsound’s Cash for Kids, we were pleased to play our part in distributing much-needed food parcels to children that we already work with during term time.
“Building on the work of (the Trust’s) ‘Still Standing Free’ campaign, it was important to us to continue to support children and their families as they continue to face difficulties during the ongoing pandemic.”
