There was record engagement in the Sport for Development Coalition’s monthly Twitter takeover for March 2020 which focused on the implications of the Coronavirus for the sector.
Each month the SFDC sets a theme; these have included sport’s role in reducing crime, improving gender equality and mental health – find out how it works here.
Using the hashtag #SportForDevelopmentCoalition, its media partner @ConnectSport posts five questions for discussion during a live hour of social media activity on the last Monday evening of the month, with individuals and organisations across the sector responding.
Usually an SFDC partner helps to lead the discussion. However for March 2020 the SFDC changed tack with the focus on how organisations within the sector are coping with, and responding to the Coronavirus pandemic. The five questions below encouraged them to voice issues and share ideas.
The busy hour of online sharing and learning resulted in 74 organisations creating a record 2134 engagements (replying, retweeting or liking), and 72,874 impressions - the best engagement since the format commenced in November 2018. View highlights on Twitter here.
The findings have been shared with key stakeholders in the sector. Some examples of tweets are shown below:
