British Gymnastics partner with Cartoon Network

British Gymnastics have joined forces with Cartoon Network to launch the POW! Academy, an initiative aimed at inspiring thousands of young gymnasts across the country to reach new heights.

The POW! Academy challenges children aged five to 11 to turn the gymnastics skills they have learnt into creative sequences. Every time they reach a new level, they will be rewarded with a badge and certificate.

The unique partnership will see youngsters inspired by Cartoon Network's superhero animated TV series The Powerpuff Girls, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

Jane Allen, CEO of British Gymnastics, said: “We’re delighted to partner with Cartoon Network, who share our passion for inspiring young people and having a positive influence on their development. This is an exciting and new type of partnership which will delight thousands of gymnasts.

"The Powerpuff Girls series resonates with our young gymnasts and their brand attributes of inclusivity, courage and teamwork are a good fit with our sport.

"We strive to ensure all gymnasts have a positive and rewarding experience, and this strategic partnership adds an exciting new element for gymnasts to enjoy.”

Vanessa Brookman, Vice-President of Content & Creative, Turner Northern Europe, added: "The Powerpuff Girls are an iconic superhero trio, who have been role models to a generation of kids and continue to inspire today with their message of empowerment and inclusivity.

"We are particularly delighted to partner with British Gymnastics on a scheme that compliments the fun and inspiring values embodied by this sport, and offers a practical initiative for gymnasts to celebrate their achievements."
