Tyne Metropolitan College

Our mission, vision and values drive our delivery of first-class provision and show a clear commitment of support to all students equally. With a mission to provide outstanding educational opportunities, we will benefit learners and the communities we serve. Doing so will satisfy our vision to grow further as a world-class educational facility, operating with a focus that develops the potential of all.

Our Sport Development team work to develop projects to benefit our students and the community we are based in. We aim to work to support learners to be physically active reaching Chief Medical Officer guidelines, create opportunities for individual development through education or qualifications, promote an awareness of mental wellbeing through our Safe, Fit & Well project and develop our community through outreach work to enable hard to reach groups to take part in sport. We work in partnership with National Governing Bodies, charities and the Voluntary & Community Sector (VCS) to champion physical and mental wellbeing, engagement in sport and health initiatives.

Our programmes include:

- Tackling Inactivity in College – aiming to reduce the number of students that are physically inactive within Further Education
- Safe, Fit & Well – aiming to support learners at risk of a mental illness using physical activity as an intervention to support wellbeing
- School Engagement Programme – supporting primary schools to reach Chief Medical Officer (CMO) guidelines in relation to physical activity
